Alta Sport welcomes our newest sponsor, Pro-Velo out of Sedalia Missouri. Pro-Velo is proud to support the 8th annual Spring Fling Crit Series featuring a free junior and youth race. Pro-Velo's owner and ex-racer Ebby was a top racer in the mid to late eighty's. Ebby won the Quad cities Pro/1/2 Road Race and led Snake Alley until a dropped chain cost him the win and he finished 8th. Rumor has it you may even see Ebby riding a few Alta Sport races!

Alta Sport announces race promotion trailer and free warm-up tent. Warm-up tent and trainers sponsored by Cycle Works, Cyclops Trainer and Velotek.com. Larger Alta Sport events will feature 6 trainers for athlete warm-up.

Alta Sport race promoter Jim Whittaker was recently honored by the Lawrence City Commission for outstanding work in the area of youth cycling. Jim was nominated by fellow competitor Ann Neir and local cyclists for promoting the Cycle Works Thursday night crit series. The ground breaking Cycle Works Twilight Criterium series was a multi-race format offering track style racing and a free first-timers and youth race. By the end of last Summer, the 6 race series saw 50 youth cyclists racing at Haskell Indian College. The years most talked about race series was a success and a portion of the proceeds were donated to the American Indian College Fund. Alta-Sport staff members are eagerly preparing for the 2003 version. Check out last years newspaper article.

Team X Cycling the newest Midwest regional team hosted a Junior "X" mini-camp on January 19th in Lawrence, Kansas. Fourteen young people joined Team X Development coaches Steve Rouff, Jim Whittaker and Dean Parker for 4 hours of spinning, dinner, lecture and race analyses. Camp info and photos.  Video (2megs)
