Road Race, race #3 of the Summer Sizzler Series.

Hot, hot and hotter, nothing else could
adequately explain the conditions on race day.
Where else could three grown men be seen screaming at severe leg camps.
Luckly that was the worst of the race medical issues. Special thanks to
Kerry Albrecht for her attentive care.
The category 1/2/3 race was a small affair
with some big attacks. Kris the yo-yo Tilford was seen on and off the back
but bravely finished to take 3rd. Shadd Smith and Steve Schneller fought a
close battle with Shadd taking the upper hand.
The most exciting race was the 3/4 pack
which shattered before and after Curt the Cat 2 Shelman went on his patented
over 100 degree
 break
away. Curt was 3 minutes faster than the 1/2/3 pack! Warren Jurgens showed
he is for real when he pulled back Team X's Chris Hall the last mile. Scott
Hammack graciously gave Warren the perfect lead out. Cagey Thom Leonard took
the Masters 50+ bonus.
New comers dominated the category 4/5 race
with Rick Bareet going on a
 strong
solo break. New to racing Joe Gaiti placed 2nd in his first race ever and
Chris Chorice continued his improvement this season. Kurt Albrecht of Team X
came out of injured reserve status to place 4th.
 Even
combining the Juniors with the women couldn't stop Trina Brock from crushing
her foes. In a dominating performance reminiscent of another elite rider
from Kansas she easily sped away. Michelle Jensen of Free State Racing
placed 2nd. Team X's Ben Robertson finished 1st in the Juniors followed
closely by his teammates Austin and Joe.
