Alta Sport commends Roger
Harrison for his giving and high energy volunteerism. The staff speaks
for all area racers when they say they could never thank Roger enough
for all his hard work for Kansas and KC Metro area promoters. Roger's
dedication, energy and fun loving attitude his the perpetual motion
machine of cycling. With seemingly limitless amounts of energy Roger and
his family keep the rolls spinning. Alta Sport takes a moment to ask Roger a few questions: You received the Perpetual Motion award from the Kansas Cycling Association (KCA.) What does that mean to you? It is nice to be recognized by your peers. That being said, the thank you's, the general friendliness, and the safe conduct of the races is the epitome of recognition for me. The hugs from the ladies are especially nice!!!!!!!!! Woooooooooo Hooooooooo Where’s the ultimate source of your motivation and inspiration to give so much to cycling and and others? The youth of America, "what we do in life will echo through eternity". We noticed your sons are involved with your volunteerism, what do THEY think about the award and your dedication to cycling? What his kid's say: "I think it is very nice that my dad helps set up the bike races although sometimes I get tired of getting up at 0 dark 30 to set them up"

People have called Jim Whittaker a unique individual, how’s it working with him? Jim's devotion and love of the sport make him tense. He takes on a lot of responsibility, has trouble relying on people for good reason, because the safety of the racers is paramount to him. Unique no, he is just so focused on his family, racing, and youth, that he concentrates all his efforts in that area and I love it. If you could guide Kansas area cycling a certain direction where would you want to take it in the next 3 to 5 years? I want to see a peleton of 30 under 13 female riders gliding around a course in their respective team jerseys. A peleton of 30 under 13 male riders gliding around a course in their respective team jerseys. I want to see Ashley Knoll, Rae, Anna, John Hackman, Joseph and Adam on a victory stand on ESPN or OLN in France. I want to see Michelle, Kelly, Katherine, Madeline, Tammy, Terry, Jill, Elizabeth, Stacie, Jennifer, Trudi, Vickie, Tera, in one race and all of them on a Victory Stand. I want to see the Ed Knoll, Brendan Sheehan, Terri Chang, still racing. I want to see Women's Master Events. I want to see Belah's first race! I want to see Christopher Locke's first race. I want to see our sport grow. I want to have an electronic chip racing system in place for our races. I want all of our riders safe ! and racing. I want bicycle Share the Road signs on the highways. I want to see Elite Riders giving more to new and younger riders! What do you want your tomb stone to read? "A Hundred Years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...But The World may be different because I was Important in the Life of a Child." - La Lanterne Equipe de Volontaire Rouge
